ATL WELCOMES DIII STAR COACH!

ATL WELCOMES DIII STAR COACH!

Fredericksburg, VA :: For our 2nd COLLEGE COACH DAY of year, the ATL will welcome an star in the industry as Dana Hall, Head Coach of the University of Mary Washington will make an appearance as a guest coach for practice on December 11!

Jillian DiFazio, co-director-extraordinaire of the ATL, played lacrosse at Randolph-Macon College, a Division III program located in Ashland, VA. There, DiFazio was coached by Dana Hall who is currently in her 22nd season as the head women’s lacrosse coach at Mary Washington! How awesome is that! Hall ranks as one of the WINNINGEST coaches in NCAA history along with some other pretty impressive accomplishments:

• Eight NCAA Division III national championship appearances since 2000
• More than 26 All-American performances
• Seven national top-10 rankings
• Named the 2001 NCAA Division III National Women’s Lacrosse Coach of the Year by 360Lacrosse.com

When asked why she would be interested in visiting the ATL, Coach Hall said that “this is a great opportunity to teach and grow lacrosse nationwide. I would also like to spread the word about UMW. I have two current players from the Atlanta area and would love to have more. I am looking forward to the visit and reconnecting with Jillian.”

Kathryn Stiltz (Walton HS) and Keller Torrey (Centennial HS) were former ATL/XTEAM members that are currently playing for UMW, so Coach Hall's presence at practice means quality exposure for ATL members.

And, Coach Hall is no stranger to the club lacrosse scene. She believes it is a great opportunity for girls to play outside of their high schools as some girls may come from weaker HS programs with the same big desire to compete at the college level. This does not stop Coach Hall from recruiting players that catch her eye.

For example, a former player of Hall’s, Kaitlin Moore, played on a non varsity sponsored team in high school and relied on her club team for exposure to college coaches. Hall saw Moore play in a tournament and thought she would be a great addition to Mary Washington. Boy oh boy was she right! In just 3 years, Moore broke the scoring records for most points per season and had 68 goals and 81 assists in her senior year. Moore is now the Head Coach at Randolph-Macon- Jillian’s alma mater!

What a small, awesome world!

Hall also likes to keep things fun with her team by taking trips to St. Croix and San Juan! Besides lacrosse, the UMW team is also engaged in the community by offering educational classes and teaching local kids how to play lacrosse.

It’s safe to say we are in for one ROWDY practice with Coach Hall! Get pumped ATL, because this is going to be a practice you DON’T want to miss!
